Tiny Hesperonychus elizabethae (far left), North America’s smallest meat-eating dinosaur, probably weighed no more than a chicken and was smaller than many of its contemporary relatives (human shown for scale).
There was a new dinosaur fossil discovered in 1982 in Canada at the Dinosaur Park, where over 30 species of dinosaurs have already been found. The new dinosaur was the size of a chicken and weighed about 4.2 pounds. This dinosaur broke the recored for being the smallest meat eating dinosaur in North America. The new dinosaurs scientific name is Hesperonychus Elizabethae.

This illustration shows Tianyulong confuciusi, an ornithischian dinosaur with featherlike structures. It lived in what is now northeastern China between 120 million and 130 million years ago.
This dinosaur died out more than 60 million years ago. Scientists are learning more and more about dinosaurs because of the fossils left behind. This tiny dino was found roaming around in southern Alberta, north of Montana. The claws on this Hesperonychus Elizabethae are sickle shaped, and its diet was insects, lizards, and birds. This dino is supposed to be related to the small raptor family
found in China.
About the same time Canada announced their discovery, the Chinese had announced that they also found dinosaur feathers. About 120-130 million years ago there were dinosaurs that had feathers, and were not a therapod they were a bird hipped dinosaur.

A star begins its life in a dense molecular cloud called a nebula. Shown here is the Horsehead Nebula.
There are two different star sizes. One is a dwarf star the other one is giant. The dwarf is about 435,000 miles around. That is a small star but that is mighty big.
In 1995 a brown dwarf star was found. A brown dwarf star is not really a star; it is a failed star. A failed is a star that has gong out.
The nearest red dwarf star is 20 trillion miles away. Red dwarf stars grow and grow until they burn up then all that’s left is a hot core known as a white dwarf star.
When a white dwarf star goes out it is then a black dwarf star. No one has ever seen a black dwarf star.

George Thomas opens Lincoln's watch with its secret message.
In April 1861 Jonathan Dillon was fixing a watch at a store in Washington D.C. Then the store’s owner came in yelling “War has begun; the first shot has been fired.” Jonathan engraved these words inside the watch “April 13-1861, Fort Sumpter was attacked by the rebels on the above date.” He also wrote “Thank God we have a government.” He returned the watch to it’s owner, President Abraham Lincoln. No one knew that the engraving was in the watch.
Jonathan’s great-great grandson heard of the engraving that is in the watch many years later. He got more information and found out the watch is in the National Museum of America. The watch was given to the museum by Lincoln’s family in 1958. So he told the museum officers that an engraving is in the watch. They got the watch to open it. It was true, the engraving was there! Jonathan had misspelled the word Sumter and it was April 12 not the 13 but that did not matter. What mattered is that they made a discovery that has been undiscovered for years.
Other Lincoln News

This close up of a photo taken March 6, 1865, may show Abraham Lincoln in front of the White House. A photo expert wrote in Lincoln's height (6' 4"). If it is Lincoln, it is one of only about 130 photos of the President.
A photo of President Lincoln was found and believed to have been taken before he was killed. It might be the only photo of him in front of the White House. The photo was taken in March 1865. This is the photo of President Lincoln the red line is next to the supposed photo of president Lincoln.
There was a discovery off the coast of California in 1939. A fish called the Macropinna Micrustoma it was discovered by Marine Biologists. Until now Marine Biologists have not been able to get up close to see, and study this fish while it was alive. Now they have been able to send a remote operating vehicle called Rovs down to study the fish.

Macropinna microstoma
They tried to figure out why the fish’s head was so bizarre. When they found the fish it was 2,000 feet below the surface. They took hours of videos.
They will scan the water to find food and when they see a fish they will use their tube like eye’s to focus on that fish. The fish has green eyes that can reflect light from the surface which can help them see because they live in dark parts of the sea.
The fish has flat fins that helps it to stay very still in order to catch its pray. When this fish is hunting it stays very still so that the smaller fish don’t see him.

Jawbone from "Zed"
There was a big discovery in Los Angeles in late 2008. Some scientists found an almost complete skeleton of a Colombian Mammoth. They said the mammoth, which they named Zed, was an 80 % complete skeleton. Zed was only missing a back leg, part of his spine, and the top of his skull. Zed was ten feet tall and was about 47-49 years old. They found his tusks , intact which is very rare to find because tusks are more fragile than bone and can break easily.
They also found some other things as well: a full skeleton of a saber tooth tiger, six dire wolf skulls, bones from an American lion, tree trunks, turtles, snails, clams, fish, millipedes, and leaves.
The scientists didn’t have enough time to get the fossils out of the dirt one at a time so they mapped the ground and dug trenches and lifted the soil and all in big plastic sheet’s and built crates around them. By the time they had all the fossils (and dirt) in the crates there were 23 crates in all. They have only opened 3 crates so far and they think it will take 5 years to open all of them.
